Immerse yourself in the decadence of America’s Jazz Age as BGSU Firelands College presents an original adaptation of The Great Gatsby, in the McBride Auditorium November 2-4, 2017.

The breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the Jazz Age come to the stage at Notre Dame College in a new adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel. Recreating the sights, sounds and feel of America’s Roaring Twenties, as seen through the eyes of Nick Carraway, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s masterpiece is a brilliant evocation of a society obsessed with wealth and status. Remaining faithful to the spirit and language of the original, this adaptation brings the much-loved novel to life to create a fresh, character-driven piece of theatre that transports you directly into the party at Jay Gatsby’s Long Island mansion.

The production is Rated PG.

Once one of the country’s fastest rising sportscasters, featured comedian Bill Boronkay enjoyed stops in Clarksburg, WV, Evansville, IN and Kansas City before finally landing in sunny Cleveland, OH where he was assigned various hazardous duties. Along the way, Boronkay won 5 Emmy’s, one of which is proudly displayed in his mother’s home office behind a lamp.

After a failed audition with ESPN (a mirror was involved), Bill reevaluated his career and took off in lukewarm pursuit of his true 14th dream, and stand up.

Boronkay continues to work in Cleveland TV, hosting the, “High School Sports Insider” on SportsTime Ohio. In 2011, Bill cut back his media work to increase travel and share his less than remarkable life experiences as a never married, middle aged man.

Headliner Derek Richards’ act is fast, fresh and, at times, fanatical – often described as a politically incorrect discussion among friends at a bar.

Show after show, Derek brings the funny with tales about his Detroit, blue-collar upbringing, his mom’s dog, the holidays, living in Florida, and dating an exotic dancer.

A veteran of several USO tours, Richards was chosen as one of the first performers at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba after the base began guarding jailed Al-Qaeda terrorists. The comedy tour earned Richards national coverage in Newsweek. He also has performed at U.S. base camps in seven countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

You can catch Richards on the air via the Sirius/XM Satellite Radio Network and on the nationally syndicated, Bob and Tom Show along with Bob and Sheri. He also appeared on The Weather Channel’s Top 10 series.

Along with his solo appearances, he can be seen with The Irish Comedy Tour. He’s also opened for the Four Tops and the Temptations.

His two live CDs, Sensitivity Training and Who’s Your Daddy?, are sold at shows and through derekrichards.com. Hit the site to see and hear a sample of why this lunatic leaves every audience howling. And hoping he’ll be back.
