State of Comedy

Feature act Owen Thomas finally got the courage to try stand up in late 2006 and quickly has become one of the fastest rising stars in the Midwest.  He started out performing anywhere with a microphone, from hole in the wall bars to   bowling alleys and even an AA meeting.  He covers a wide array of topics spanning from American society to his trouble meeting women.  On stage, he has a very likable persona that comes off as soft spoken and humble but catches the audience off guard when he reveals his true somewhat demented self.  His self-deprecating style helped him win numerous contests on his way up the comedy ladder, and his originality has garnered him respect from his peers. He has also opened for many great national acts including Saturday Night Live alum, Norm MacDonald and Tracy Morgan.  He is a favorite at many clubs including Connxtions Comedy Club, Joey’s Comedy Club and the Funny Stop.  Owen summons his material from his inner child who is by no coincidence a sexually frustrated, chain-smoking, college drop out.

Headliner The Fryman’s rapid fire machine gun style of comedy is guaranteed to leave you wiping your eyes and leaving the show with your face in pain from laughter, whether he’s talking about his years of partying experience or run ins with the police or his bad luck with women or his time spent in the marines, his show is set up to do one thing – entertain and make you laugh your ass off!

The Fryman is a twenty two year veteran of the stage, he’s also a national recording artist with Laughing Hyena Records. He’s appeared on NBC and he’s also one of the white guys to appear on BET’s Comicview. He’s also done three military comedy tours overseas for our troops. He can be heard regularly on Sirius satellite radio. He recently signed with Carnival Cruise Lines, and originally hails from Keflavik Iceland, but now he chills in St. Louis, MO., where he started telling jokes in the first grade. Since then he’s performed in over 45 states and more than 300 cities and towns in the USA! After 22 years he still does comedy for the same reason he started, because he loves it!!
